Work is set to start on a damaged riverbank in a Lincolnshire village.

Fiskerton, near Lincoln, was among the communities badly affected by flooding during Storm Babet, in October last year.

More than 80 properties were evacuated after damage was discovered along two sections of the bank of the River Witham.

Repairs are due to start in September, an Environment Agency spokesperson said.

“In the meantime, we are continuing localised monitoring to ensure we can detect any increase in risk early and will work with partners to take action accordingly," the spokesperson added.

Hundreds of properties across Lincolnshire were flooded during Storm Babet and Storm Henk, in January.

The total cost of repairs around the county is likely to reach £45m, according to the agency.

In a post on Facebook, external, Fiskerton Parish Council confirmed it had spoken to the Environment Agency about the repairs.

The BBC has contacted the council for comment.
