Rail passengers are facing major delays after emergency services dealt with an incident close to the tracks between Stafford and Wolverhampton.

The problem was reported at 06:40 BST, and lines in the area have now reopened, but trains may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised, warned National Rail.

Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry and London Northwestern Railway services, external are being affected, it said.

Disruption had been expected to last until 10:00 BST, with rail replacement buses brought in to get passengers to their destination.
