The female race record has been smashed at a half marathon event.

About 2,700 runners crossed the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon finish line at Portman Road Stadium on Sunday.

In the women's race Holly Archer, from Bury St Edmunds, finished first with a time of 01:15:55, breaking the previous Ipswich Half Marathon record by about six minutes.

The medal winner told the BBC: "I'm delighted to come away with the course record and win today! Hills on the way out and wind on the way back, but the sun was shining and the support was amazing! Thank you Ipswich!"

Last year Ms Archer also set a new course record during the 10km race Run Norwich.

The next two women to cross the line were Kat Parnell and Katie King, clocking times of 01:24:54 and 01:25:15 respectively.

The first to cross the line overall was Cooper Berry, from Woodbridge, who finished with a 01:08:58 time.

Run For All organised the event, and operations director Tristan Batley-Kyle thanked participants for taking part.

He said: "The enthusiasm and support from everyone involved, from the participants to the many spectators, as well as sponsors, partners and volunteers involved, all ensured the day was a great success."

The event is now open to entries for the 2026 half marathon scheduled for 27 September.
