The refurbishment of a leisure centre's changing rooms is set to go ahead after funding was approved.

Members of South Staffordshire Council agreed to spend £46,000 on the project at Wombourne Leisure Centre during a recent meeting.

A report said the revamp was originally approved in January but could not proceed until the 2025-26 financial year, as the procurement process was not finished in time.

The money has come from the council's £1.25m portion of the government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the document added.

Councillors at Tuesday's cabinet meeting were told the full £46,000 might not be needed and could potentially be reallocated to other projects.

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, which covers councils and other public service organisations.
