Road reopening delayed until next year

A road into a city will be closed for longer than expected due to "a series of unexpected issues".
Cumberland Council said Dalston Road, one of the routes into Carlisle, will remain shut until February while work continues on the city's Southern Link Road to connect Junction 42 of the M6 with the A595.
The route was initially due to close between March and June, but this was put off until 17 June.
The council said the issues were out of its control and it was doing all it could to resolve them.
A spokesman said: "We have looked at providing an alternative route along the new section of road adjacent to Peter Lane, but this is not possible due to the logistical requirements of the Caldew Crossing Bridge."
