Plan for round-the-clock business park to be heard

Plans to lift operating restrictions and create a round-the-clock 365-day-a year business park in Surrey are set to be considered by a council.

An application to remove hours-of-use conditions at the Weybridge Business Park in Addlestone will be heard by Runnymede Borough Council's planning committee on Wednesday.

The applicants are looking for the buildings to operate as flexibly as possible, according to papers published ahead of the meeting.

Residents have feared the site will be used as a delivery depot but it has previously been said that no formal discussions have taken place over who would take over the site.

The planning saga has rumbled on for years with the site already demolished in preparation for the new business units to be built, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

Previous plans for continual operation had previously been rejected on the grounds that it would be overbearing and have a damaging environmental impact.

It was also determined that noise and pollution would be severely detrimental to residents and users of the Wey Navigation.

Now, a new application will be heard that includes sound dampening fences around the site.

In March 2023  the council's planning committee rejected a 20,000 sq m warehouse at the site.

Plans to build the business park were then approved in November 2023 after the developers returned with a smaller scheme with the restricted hours.

The most notable residential properties potentially affected are the Navigation House block of flats with balconies facing Hamm Moor Lane and Weybridge Business Park across the road.
