Anthea Roue wants to find musicians who would not mind children walking, dancing and interacting with them during the concert

A mother is searching for musicians to perform in an orchestra at a Christmas concert for children with additional needs.

Anthea Roue has organised the event at St Stephen's Church in St Peter Port, Guernsey, for children and their families who might find attending other festive concerts and parties difficult.

Ms Roue, whose daughter Evie has autism with accompanying intellectual impairment and language disorder, said it can be a struggle for some children who do not like "lots of hustle and bustle" to sit down in a large crowd.

She added it would be great for musicians who do not mind performing with children walking, dancing and interacting with them at the concert to come along.

She said children and people with additional needs often appreciate music in different ways to others.

Ms Roue said she was keen for the venue to be "filled with magic and appreciation" during the concert on 29 November, and that she wanted the children to experience the joy of the season in comfort.

"If that means walking around, dancing, being vocal and interacting with musicians, I don't mind," she said.

"It's about everyone having fun and everybody experiencing the joy."
