Police are investigating a hate crime incident at a Scottish League Two match in Elgin.

Officers said they were made aware of a supporter approaching a player from the sidelines during the game between Elgin City and Edinburgh City on Saturday.

Insp Andy Meikleham said: "This was a despicable action and we are now following a positive line of inquiry."

Elgin City, who lost the match 4-2, said a supporter was ejected from the stadium following a report of homophobic abuse.
