A man has been left with serious injuries following a collision on the A14 involved one vehicle.

Cambridgeshire Police said it was called to the westbound carriageway just before the junction for Stow-Cum-Quy, east of Cambridge, at about 14:00 GMT on Tuesday.

Police said a grey Toyota Aygo had crashed into a road sign and barriers, and no other vehicles were involved.

Paramedics were also sent out and a 22-year-old man from Harston was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital.

The crash caused long delays on the dual carriageway.

Sgt Steph Corletto said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the Aygo or has dashcam footage of it before the crash to get in touch with us.

"I'd also like thank everyone who was caught up in the road closure for their patience - we don't make the decision lightly to close a major route like the A14."
