Man in critical condition after city stabbing

A man is in hospital in a critical but stable condition after a stabbing in Bath.
Avon and Somerset Police were called to Terrace Walk at about 02:55 GMT following reports that a man had suffered a number of stab wounds.
The victim, who received first aid from officers and member of the public, was later taken to hospital where he remains with injuries thought to be life-changing.
An 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while a 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both remain in police custody pending further inquiries.
Neighbourhood Policing Ch Insp Karen Corrigan said: “I understand this will be a distressing and upsetting incident for the community and I would like to reassure members of the public that we are dedicated to carrying out a full and thorough investigation.
“I would like to commend the work of the members of the public who provided immediate first aid to the victim before officers arrived and to the officers who continued to provide this first aid, alongside paramedics."
A cordon remains in place in Terrace Walk while inquiries continue and members of the public can expect to see a heightened police presence over the coming days.
