A farm shop in North Yorkshire which closed earlier this year is set to reopen after being bought by new owners for £2.2m.

The former Keelham Farm Shop, in Gargrave Road, near Skipton, has been purchased by Robertshaw’s Farm Shop Limited, based in Thornton, Bradford.

The shop closed at the end of 2023 after its owners struggled with the cost of living, before it then fell into administration in January when no new buyers were found.

Rob Cruikshank, associate director in Watling Real Estate’s Leeds office, which advised the sale, said he was “delighted to have achieved a sale that will retain the property’s existing use”.

He said: “There is a lack of similar offerings in the surrounding area and I’m sure local residents will be pleased to see the property open its doors as a farm shop again.

“The reopening will help to boost the local economy and bring a number of jobs into the area.

“Robertshaw’s has been successfully operating its farm shop business in Thornton, near Bradford, for over 50 years.”

The farm shop in Skipton first opened in 2015 by siblings Victoria and James Robertshaw.

It was originally a second unit for their original Keelham farm shop in Thornton, Bradford.

The two farm shops split in 2019 and the Skipton business was sold to investors in 2020.

Posting on their website, Robertshaw's said: "We are thrilled to announce that we have successfully acquired a new site in Skipton, with plans to open in early 2025.

"This expansion represents a significant milestone for Robertshaw’s and presents exciting opportunities for growth and development."
