Concerns have been raised over a potential second case of bird flu in Norfolk, less than a week after the disease was first confirmed nearby.

The government's Animal and Plant Health Agency received reports that highly pathogenic avian influenza may have been found at a site near Watton on Monday.

As a precautionary measure, all poultry at the site will be culled and cordons of 3km (nearly two miles) and 10km (about six miles) have been established while further testing is carried out.

It follows the same influenza being found at a premises near Watton, external on 5 December, which also resulted in birds being killed to prevent the flu from spreading.

A spokesperson for the agency said: "All bird keepers should remain vigilant and follow stringent biosecurity measures to prevent future outbreaks."
