A chain ferry service is set to run to a revised timetable to support crews and spectators at the Round the Island Race.

The Cowes Floating Bridge on the Isle of Wight will start crossings between Cowes and East Cowes on Saturday at 04:00 BST and run through until 01:30 on Sunday.

The short trip across the River Medina saves an 11-mile (18km) round-trip by road.

The annual boat race, a lap of 50 nautical miles around the island, will start from the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes on Saturday between 07:30 and 09:00.
