Plans revealed for new 280-home neighbourhood

Elmbridge Borough Council will consider the application in the coming months

A technology park could see old offices demolished and turned into a neighbourhood of up to 280 homes, redevelopment plans have revealed.
The revamp of the old Hersham Place Technology Park aims to transform the site into a neighbourhood complete with an open green space and potentially a doctor's surgery, if a deal can be struck with the NHS.
Developer Berkeley Homes' application documents hint that the scheme will be about 40% homes and 60% flats or maisonettes.
But the developer has confirmed there are no plans for any affordable housing, with viability reports claiming there could be about a £22.6m deficit if every home is sold on the market, the Local Democracy Reporting Service says.
According to planning documents, which were shaped through months of talks between the developer, Surrey County Council and residents, the development would sit around a new village green, with play areas and open spaces also planned.
Berkeley Homes says the five-hectare (12.3 acre) site is perfectly placed near shops, schools and transport links.
Elmbridge Borough Council will consider the application in the coming months and residents can comment on it until 21 November.
A decision is expected to be made by 13 January 2026.
