Cake artists' creations wow exhibition goers

Jim Carrey, Michael Jackson and Medusa have featured in some of the incredible, and tasty, creations at this year's Cake International.

Bakers and enthusiasts from across the world descended on the NEC outside Birmingham on Friday for the start of the three-day showcase.

Among them was Emma Morris, from South Wales, whose 6ft (1.8m) edible Michael Jackson thrilled fans of the King of Pop.

The 55-year-old artist recreated Jackson using his iconic pose from the music video for 1983 hit Thriller.

Cake artists from all over the world have come to Birmingham for the showcase

With the NEC show falling at Halloween, many of the creators chose ghoulish themes for their bakes, some of them life-size.

Previous years' events have seen life-size edible sculptures of the King, Taylor Swift and Ozzy Osbourne exhibited, as well as not-so-flattering interpretations of US President Donald Trump and North Korea leader Kim Jong-un.

The show claims to be the biggest cake decorating and baking event in the world, attracts artists from across the globe including USA, Spain, Poland, India and South Africa.

Thousands of visitors are expected to attend over the weekend, with the event also hosting trade stalls and demonstrations.

It closes on Sunday.
