Pooches enjoy a splash at city's lido

Peterborough Lido's dog swim is running for three days this year due to popular demand

Dozens of dogs have been enjoying a swim at an outdoor pool.
Each year the Peterborough Lido ends its season with a dog swim, giving owners and their pets an opportunity to swim together and have fun.
Vivacity, which runs the outdoor pool in Bishop's Road for Peterborough City Council, said due to popular demand the event had been organised for three days this year, running until Sunday.
Claire Smith, from Vivacity, said it was "a great way to end the season on a high".

Claire Smith said the lido had been very busy this year
"It is a real fun way to end of the season. Even when we opened our doors in May people ask us about the dog swim," she said.
"It has been a much busier season for the lido this year - more new swimmers this year too.
"It is our 90th year next year. It is a massive year for us and we can't wait."

Katrina said her dog George was enjoying the swim
Katrina and her golden retriever George were among the first ones on site on Friday.
"It is nice and quiet and it is worth doing," she said.
"It offers a safe environment and a good opportunity."
Earlier this year, the lido was saved from being mothballed to help the council balance its budget deficit.
It reopened for the season later than usual on 24 May and has had about 37,000 visitors so far.
