Two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a house fire in a seaside village.

Emergency services were called to Coast Road in Walcott at about 04:20 BST.

Coast Road was closed between Rookery Farm Road and The Crescent, and there was no vehicle access to Walcott from Stalham, Norfolk Police said.

Officers said the road would remain shut for a "number of hours" and people were asked to avoid the area.

Emergency workers were given refreshments at nearby pub the Lighthouse Inn

Andy Starkings, landlord of the nearby Lighthouse Inn, said people were praying for those involved.

"The community round here are fantastic, so let's hope they pull through and we can then all help them tidy the house up and get back to some sort of normality," he added.

The pub opened early to provide refreshments for emergency workers at the scene.
