Hundreds of people have been turned away from a fireworks event after it reached full capacity.

Drivers could be seen stuck in standstill traffic for more than an hour as they attempted to reach the event at a Scout group property in Tusting Close, Sprowston, near Norwich.

At least one blue-light fire engine could be seen caught up in the queues.

Spectator Grayson Clarke attempted to reach the event but pulled up into a resident's driveway when it became clear the event had finished.

He told the BBC: "We've seen people come down here cursing and swearing, because the event has been closed off early, unsure whether they'll get refunds on their tickets."

The fireworks were advertised on the Visit Norwich website, telling guests that the bonfire started at 19:00 GMT and fireworks at 19:30.

Advance tickets were advertised at £5, or for £6 on the gate.

The BBC has attempted to reach the organiser.

Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service was contacted for comment.
