Water returns after burst pipe cuts supplies
- Published
Water supplies have returned to homes, schools and businesses after a burst pipe was repaired, Thames Water has said.
The large pipe had to be shut off to be fixed and restore supplies in the RG4 and RG9 postcode areas of Sonning Common and Henley-on-Thames on Monday afternoon.
Thames Water apologised and said it had repaired the pipe just off Reade's Lane, Sonning Common overnight.
On Tuesday afternoon, the firm said water pressure was returning to normal.
A bottled water station at Tesco in Henley, which was reopened on Tuesday morning, closed at 14:30 GMT.
Mohammed Malik, 62, from Caversham said his water came back on at 17:00 on Monday but "when I got up at about 7am it had disappeared."
He said: "There was no water at all I couldn't flush the toilet or get a glass or water.
"There was no thought on the timing about this - why didn't they think about everybody getting to work and going to school."
The water firm previously said: "Our team is continuing to check the pressure in some area's where we have been receiving reports of no water, we are doing this as quickly as we can."
