The North Yorkshire Coastliner has launched an “improved service” with extra buses being added to the timetable, according to operator Transdev.

The service has previously been voted as Britain’s most scenic bus route but was recently thought to be under threat from budget cuts.

In 2022, parts of the route were almost withdrawn after a decline in customer numbers, leading to a campaign being launched to save the service.

Passengers would now see a bus every 20 minutes between Leeds, Tadcaster and York from Monday to Friday, the operator said.

Some trips to York will finish at Clifford’s Street, rather than The Stonebow.

Later buses have also been added between York and Leeds, with additional journeys between Scarborough and Tadcaster.

Transdev added it would be making “additional improvements” to make the service more reliable.
