A fresh yellow weather warning for ice and wintry showers has been issued on the Isle of Man.

The warning, which is in place until midday on Tuesday, is for rain, snow, sleet and hail "varying in intensity and frequency", forecasters have said.

Ronaldsway Met Office said further accumulations of snow and hail would occur on ground above 500ft (152m) with up to 2.8inch (7cm) expected and a risk of ice on higher ground.

The A18 Mountain Road, which was closed on Saturday night ahead of the snowfall in the early hours of Sunday, is set to remain closed until al least midday on Tuesday.

The Department of Infrastructure said the Sloc in the south of the island, which was also closed due to the weekend's weather, had been reopened.

Forecasters said, under the latest weather warning, lower ground accumulations were "possible anywhere" but would be small and were most likely to be as the result of overnight hail showers.

Road temperatures on low ground would remain above 0C except where there was snow or ice, they added.

While the Isle of Man Airport was opened as scheduled on Monday morning, passengers were warned of possible flight delays as a result of weather related issues in the UK.
