Seven men have been arrested and "large quantities" of suspected Class A drugs seized as part of an operation in Bradford, police have said.

The operation was part of wider efforts to tackle the supply of drugs in the county, according to West Yorkshire Police.

All the men who were arrested overnight on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs remained in custody, a force spokesperson said.

The new arrests brought the total number of people held as part of the operation to 14, with all the suspects aged between 22 and 43.

As well as the arrests, officers had recovered more than 50 kilos of suspected Class A drugs during the investigation in Bradford and Kirklees, which had been ongoing throughout the year, the spokesperson said.

Det Insp Kevin Daly, from the force's precision organised crime unit, said drug dealing was "an absolute scourge on our communities".

"We continue to appeal to anyone who has information about drugs offending or any form of serious organised crime in their communities to report it," he said.

"We absolutely do investigate all intelligence we receive, and want to thank all those who come forward with information."
