Body found in search for Lewis Penfold-Roche

A body has been found in the search for a missing 18-year-old.

Lewis Penfold-Roche, from Billingham, County Durham, has been missing since 28 January and his disappearance led to police searches in the area.

Cleveland Police confirmed the body of a man was found in the river near to Tees Barrage in Stockton at around 15:20 GMT on 11 March.

No formal identification has taken place but Mr Penfold-Roche's family has been informed.

Police had been searching for Mr Penfold-Roche since he went missing.

After initial searches proved unsuccessful officers widened their search to woodland near Billingham Beck Valley Country Park. On 7 March marine units were brought in to search the area near Charlton's Pond.

His mother, Donna Roche, recently issued a message to her son to come home.

Mr Penfold-Roche was last seen on CCTV footage at an Esso garage at about 08:15 GMT on 28 January.
