Keen crocheters busy creating the life-size cow

A playwright has appealed for help to crocheting a life-size cow she is hoping to use in a performance later this year.

Laura Horton is asking people to pop in to two venues in Plymouth this weekend to help complete the unusual theatrical prop.

The cow is due to be part of her show Lynn Faces at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.

The cow is a reference to an episode in the TV comedy series I'm Alan Partridge in which Alan is trapped under a cow.

Ms Horton said her show, which features her and three other performers, was inspired by Alan's assistant, the long-suffering Lynn Benfield.

"I wanted to create a Lynn punk band but that didn't happen, so I wrote a play," she said.

"It is about her regaining her self confidence and finding hope on the other side of abuse."

Crocheters who want to help create the cow for her production can drop in to sessions at the Plymouth Proprietary Library in St Barnabas Terrace from 10:30-13:30 BST and 10:00-16:00 on Sunday at the Duke of Cornwall Hotel in Millbay Road.

People will also be invited to pay £1 to suggest names for the cow.
