Woman taken to hospital after canal rescue

A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was rescued from a canal.
The emergency services were called to the waterway near Wharf Road, Ellesmere, Shropshire, at just after 04:30 GMT on Friday.
A water rescue team from the fire service rescued the woman from the canal before she was treated by paramedics.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said she was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with serious injuries but they were not life threatening.
