An inquiry is under way after what are believed to be bones were found on a Sunderland beach.
Police were called to Roker just after midday on Tuesday, after the discovery was made by a member of the public.
Officers were sent to the scene, near Marine Walk, Northumbria Police said.
It is unknown whether the bones are human or animal.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing into the discovery.”
A flood warning had been in place in the area around Marine Walk on 11 March.
The Environment Agency warned people to be wary of high winds and tides.
