Final section of new footbridge lifted into place

The final section of a £16m footbridge over the River Severn in Worcester has been lifted into place.
Windy conditions meant it could not be added to the new walking and cycling Kepax Bridge as planned on Wednesday.
But the 12-tonne section was moved with the help of a 1,000-tonne crane the following day.
Work was scheduled to be completed towards the end of the year, subject to there being no significant delays such as flooding, Worcestershire County Council said.
The bridge will run from Gheluvelt Park east of the river to the Kepax site in St John's to the west.
Construction started in October and was estimated by the authority to cost almost £16m.
Thursday's work completed all of the bridge lifts that have been taking place over the past two weeks.
Workers had been bolting the last section into place from a platform and the bridge was now "self-supporting and functioning as intended", the council said.
Forthcoming work includes adding handrails and lighting.
Landscaping and planting would take place in Gheluvelt Park before handover, the council stated.
