Sinn Féin councillor Jack Murray said the community is in shock

Jack Murray is a Sinn Féin councillor for the area and he told BBC News NI that the community in Buncrana and across Donegal is "shocked and saddened" by the tragedy.

“It evokes the horrible memories of the tragedy in 2016 when five members of the one family died after a vehicle went off the pier," he said.

“We rally together and support each other now.

“There is a grieving family in our community tonight and our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
