More than 500 scouts from across the UK landed at the National Space Centre in Leicester for the launch of a new scouts space badge.
The badge is aimed at inspiring the next generation of leaders in the space field by teaching children about space science, astronomy and aviation.
UK Space Agency astronaut reserve Meganne Christian, who spoke with scouts at the event, said she hoped it would encourage more children to pursue a career in space.
National Space Centre chief executive Chas Bishop said the badge aligned with the centre's goal to "inspire curiosity and passion for space exploration among the youth".

The scouts took part in astronaut training sessions during the day, explored exhibits and asked Ms Christian questions about her career.
The astronaut reservist said: “I think there’s an opportunity with the badge to learn so much more about space, to become inspired by it, get interested in it and maybe one day get a job in the space sector and even as an astronaut."
The National Space Centre has welcomed over 4.6m visitors, including more than 1m schoolchildren since it opened on 30 June 2001.
