Ten fire crews tackle fire in residential street

Firefighters have tackled a significant blaze involving gardens and properties on a residential street in Coventry.

West Midlands Fire Service said it was called to Guphill Avenue, Whoberley, at 18:55 BST where a fire had started in the garden of a terraced house and affected three houses.

Ten fire crews and about 50 firefighters were in attendance at its height and a large plume of smoke was visible above the nearby area.

The service said one man, believed to be in his 60s had been treated by the ambulance service and was discharged at the scene.

It added that the number of firefighters had been reduced at 20:45 BST, meanwhile some remained to dampen down the scene.
