A 47-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer following reports of a group of black children being racially abused.

Northamptonshire Police said they were called to Sheep Street in Kettering on Sunday following reports of a "racially-motivated public order incident".

They added that a woman had allegedly assaulted two men who had challenged her after she reportedly abused the children and a black woman in the High Street.

The force appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened at about 14:00 GMT.
