Rail delays after person hit by train

National Rail said trains might be cancelled, delayed or diverted as a result of the incident

Rail passengers faced disruption for more than eight hours after a person was hit by a train between Rugby and Milton Keynes.

National Rail said the incident was reported at about 08:00 BST, prompting all lines between the stations to be closed while emergency services carried out their work.

The disruption affected Avanti Coast and London Northwestern Railway services.

Lines reopened after 16:30 BST, with National Rail warning services would still be delayed.
