A man is being treated in hospital after he was hit by a double-decker bus in Edinburgh.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Haymarket station at about 19:45 on Tuesday after the pedestrian was struck by a Lothian Buses vehicle. The bus windscreen was smashed in the incident.

The injured man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

Lothian Buses confirmed one of its vehicles was involved in the incident and told BBC Scotland News it was "fully assisting" Police Scotland with inquiries.
