A second person has been arrested in connection with a city centre shooting that left a 16-year-old boy with life-threatening injuries.
The victim was found injured on London Road, Sheffield, at about 17:15 GMT on Monday and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
South Yorkshire Police said officers arrested a boy, 15, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder on Tuesday morning and a second boy, 16, on Tuesday evening.
Both remain in custody at this time.
According to police, the shooting occurred on London Road at the junction with Ward Place.
The road was closed between the junction of Sitwell Place and the Crowther Place turn-off but reopened on Tuesday afternoon.
The force said extra patrols would be in place in the area over the coming days and appealed for anyone with information about the shooting to get in touch.
Det Ch Insp Emma Knight, senior investigating officer, said: "There is no place for gun crime in South Yorkshire, and I am calling on the public to help us get justice for this boy and his family.
"I would urge anyone who believes they may have information that could help our investigation and has not yet got in touch, to please do so."
