Man killed in crash in west of island named

A man who was killed in a crash on a main road in the west of the Isle of Man has been named as Nesta Haselden.

The 21-year-old died in the collision between a motorbike and two cars near Queen Elizabeth II High School on the A1 Douglas to Peel road at about 16:20 BST on Wednesday.

Isle of Man Constabulary said two men who were arrested in connection with the crash had been released on bail.

Investigations "continue to determine the circumstances of the collision", the force said.

It did not say what the two men had been arrested on suspicion of.

A force spokeswoman said the family of Mr Haselden was being supported by officers.

“We request that the public refrain from speculating as to the causation of the collision and would ask the privacy of all is respected at this time,” she said.

“We would like to pass our condolences to the family and friends of Mr Haselden.”

Anybody who was in the area between 16:00 hrs and 16:30 or who had information that could assist the investigation, or who witnessed what happened has been asked to contact police.
