A man has been arrested in relation to two firearms incidents that took place earlier this month.

Thames Valley Police previously said it received a report of a gunshot outside a property on Weymann Terrace in Oxford at 16:30 BST on 11 August.

Officers were then also called to Warren Crescent, Headington, at about 01:30 on 12 August following another report of a gunshot.

The force said a 23-year-old from Oxford was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He remains in custody.

“We still believe these firearms incidents to be connected and targeted, with no threat to the wider public," said Det Insp Krista Thompson.

“I understand that this may be alarming but fortunately these incidents are extremely rare."

She appealed to anyone with more information to contact either the police or independent charity Crimestoppers.
