Murder suspect released on bail as probe continues

A man who was arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman died in Stoke-on-Trent has been released on bail.

The 53-year-old was arrested after the woman in her 60s died at an address on Sefton Avenue, Sneyd Green, at about 21:30 GMT on Monday.

Staffordshire Police confirmed on Wednesday that the man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was released on bail while their investigation continued.

The force urged people not to speculate about what happened.

A referral was made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct because of recent police contact with the woman, Staffordshire Police said.
