A woman and a cat have both died at a house fire in Kent.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) were called to reports of a fire in Sharon Crescent, in Walderslade, Chatham at 17:30 BST on Monday.

Four fire engines were on the scene as crews tackled the blaze, however a woman and a cat died at the scene, a KFRS spokesperson said.

KSRS said the cause of the fire had been “linked to smoking materials”.
