Strategic Health and Wellbeing Services want to expand their services

A Surrey service aimed at improving the physical and metal wellbeing of older residents is set to benefit from a £7,500 boost.

Strategic Health and Wellbeing Services (SHAWS) would use the money to expand its strength and balance classes for residents over 65 with long term health conditions.

The classes currently run at Camberley Library but would be extended to Frimley Green and Bagshot Libraries.

Surrey Heath Councillor Lisa Finan-Cooke said: “This is a positive project from an excellent local charity which is already helping some of the most vulnerable members of our community.”

SHAWS has applied to Surrey Health Borough Council's community grant scheme for the money, which is recommended for approval.

The classes, which also aim to reduce isolation, are aimed at refugees, ethnically diverse groups and women, as well as older members of the community.
