Woman seriously injured after car crashes into tree

A woman was airlifted to hospital after the car she was travelling in crashed into a tree in Kent.

The incident happened on the London-bound carriageway of the A299 Thanet Way, between St Nicholas-at-Wade and Herne Bay, at about 19:50 BST on Saturday.

One of the occupants of the a blue Skoda, a woman in her 60s, was flown to a London hospital with serious injuries, Kent Police said.

The car's other occupant was taken to a nearby hospital.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are continuing to carry out inquiries, the force said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage is urged to contact police.
