Police investigate attempted ram raid on village Co-op

Police are investigating an attempted ram raid on a shop in the Scottish Borders.

Officers were called to the Co-op in Newtown St Boswells just after 04:00, where they discovered an abandoned Range Rover and the front of the building badly damaged.

A spokesperson for the supermarket chain said the store would remain closed while staff assess the damage.

Police said their inquiries were ongoing and have appealed for witnesses.
