Fire crews were called after a blaze broke out in a high-rise block of flats in Birmingham city centre.

An investigation is under way into the cause of the fire, which was contained in one apartment at Trident House, a 20-storey residential building on Granville Square.

West Midlands Fire Service said everyone on the floor where the fire started were temporarily evacuated, after they were called at about 09:30 GMT.

The service said the fire was extinguished just after 10:00 GMT and nobody was injured.

All residents, apart from those in the affected flat, were safely allowed to return to their homes.

The BBC has contacted Trident Housing Association, who own the building for comment.
