Flood warnings are in place in parts of Devon after heavy rain overnight caused the rivers Axe, Clyst and Yarty to rise.

The Environment Agency (EA) said flooding could impact properties in the areas close to the rivers.

It said flood waters may be "deep and fast flowing" and advised people to install flood resilience measures.

The agency said its staff would "closely monitor the situation" and there would be further updates to follow.

Three flood warning were put in place earlier, including the Axe riverside locations and roads between Winsham and Axminster, including Chard Junction, Coaxden Cottages and Weycroft.

Around the River Clyst, the warnings said flooding was possible to properties and low-lying areas around Ashclyst Farm and Burrow Bridge, Clyston Mill, Dymond's Farm, Sowton Barton and properties and farms between Clyst St. Mary and Topsham including Newcourt Barton and Cotts Farm.

Meanwhile, the River Yarty had also risen, with minor roads and fords near to and across the river expected to be "impassable".

The flood warning area also includes riverside locations and roads between Yarcombe and Axminster, including Long Bridge, Case Bridge, Beckford Bridge and Yarty Bridge.
