A car has crashed into the side of a house on a street in Newark.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called at 11:00 GMT on Saturday to reports of a collision near North Gate Retail Park.

Crews from Collingham, Highfields, Newark and Tuxford attended, a statement said, with Currie Road closed while the scene is cleared.

No serious injuries were reported, but the fire service said the driver of the car has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

Emergency services managed to recover the car from the damaged area of the building, and it has now been taken away from the scene.
