Man injured during assault in park

An investigation is underway after a man was injured in a city centre park.

Police were called to Castle Park in Bristol at about 17:15 BST on Saturday to reports of a man being assaulted.

The victim had left the scene by the time officers arrived and was later found in hospital with a wound to his thigh.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Enquiries, including reviewing CCTV in the area, are ongoing."

The force were called to the park by the ambulance service who explained they had received a call from a member of the public about a man being assaulted.

"Officers attended the scene and spoke to potential witnesses," said the police spokesperson.

They explained the victim had sustained a laceration to his thigh, which is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
