Motorists have been warned to expect disruption on a main road through an eastern village on the Isle of Man.

Resurfacing work on the roundabout at Corkills Garage has seen a section of the carriageway through the centre of Onchan made one-way for a week.

Only north-bound traffic can travel on sections of Governor's Road and Main Road adjoining the junction until Sunday, when the road will close from 07:00 to 23:00 BST.

The top of Summerhill Road, which also joins the roundabout, also faces restrictions during the works.

Businesses in the area remain open to pedestrians

The Department of Infrastructure said the work was needed to replace the failing surface of the road.

Diversions have been put in place for Douglas-bound traffic via Avondale Road, Signpost Corner and Governors Bridge.

Businesses in the area would remain open throughout the works, however fuel sales and vehicular access to the petrol station adjacent to the roundabout would not be available, the department said.

The timing of the complete closure of a section of road on Sunday was designed to "avoid conflict with commercial, commuter and schools traffic", it added.
