Oscar-winning audio firm receives King's Award

A double Oscar-winning audio engineering company has received the King's Award for Enterprise.

AMS Neve Ltd has helped to bring many Hollywood movie soundtracks to life such as the Titanic, Bond films and Oppenheimer with its groundbreaking technology developed in Burnley, Lancashire.

One of the King's representatives, the Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire Amanda Parker, presented the award for its excellence in overseas trade to the firm's founder and director Mark Crabtree.

He said the honour from the King was "very special" and "meant a lot" to the firm's 93-strong workforce.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise, external is for outstanding achievement by businesses in either innovation, international trade, sustainable development or promoting opportunity through social mobility.

The award is valid for five years and means AMS Neve can use the King’s Awards flag at its headquarters and use the emblem on marketing materials.

AMS Neve are creators of digital and analogue audio equipment which are all designed and made in Burnley.

It exports its products to 90 countries and the firm has had four previous Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.

Mr Crabtree said: "It's an export award that we have got and exports are obviously very important to the UK so our distributors will be over the moon that they have contributed to this."

He said it was a boost for "all the staff" from the people that designed them, assembled them and the people that sell them.

Mrs Parker said at the presentation the firm's "continual growth in exports, in innovation of product, is just astonishing".

Mr Crabtree said he started AMS Neve from his attic when he combined his love for music and electronics.

Mr Crabtree was appointed an OBE for services to advanced manufacturing and creative industries in 2013.
