A husband and wife, both in their 80s, have died in a car crash that caused hours of disruption on a dual carriageway in Hampshire.

Police said they were called at about 11:20 BST to a "serious" collision between two cars on the A303 near Sutton Scotney on Friday.

The crash involved a Volvo XC40 and a Toyota Aygo.

Police have now confirmed that the Volvo occupants, who were from Leicester, died in the crash.

Officers said that the road has now fully reopened.

They added that the occupants of the Toyota had suffered only minor injuries.

The family of the deceased have been informed and police are appealing to anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.
