Road closure to allow further work to historic town hall

A town centre road will be temporarily closed to allow for the refurbishment of a historic Grade-II listed town hall.
Allowing further work to Trowbridge Town Hall, Park Road will be closed at its junction with Market Street weekdays between 09:00 and 16:00 BST from Monday 3 June to Friday 5 July.
The work will include the removal of scaffolding, masonry repairs and installing a new electricity supply.
Wiltshire council leader, Richard Clewer, said they were "working hard to minimise disruption and ensure everyone’s safety".
"We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause," he added.
'£16m investment'
The council said during the closure, pedestrian and emergency services access will be maintained but no other vehicles will be permitted.
It also said waste collection services will not be affected and residents of Park Road flats will be provided with permits to use Court Street car park.
Part of a £16m investment to the town via the government's Future High Streets Fund, work to refurbish the Town Hall began in August.
The refurbished building will have a variety of performance and activity spaces, recording studios and a licensed café bar.
“We are pleased with the progress being made and the attention to detail to protect the building’s historic features during the works," said Mr Clewer.
“This refurbishment is crucial for our community as it aligns with our goal of fostering resilient towns where communities can sustainably grow and access leisure, arts, heritage and culture," he added.
