Two people are in hospital, one with what police describe as "life-threatening injuries", following a crash in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said they had been passengers in a BMW which was involved in a collision with a Hyundai on Bath Row at 04:00 on Saturday, close to the Westside Service Station.

The driver of the BMW fled the scene, the force said.

Three people from the Hyundai were treated at the scene for more minor injuries and were discharged by paramedics.

Police said the road was likely to remain closed until early in the afternoon, while enquiries are carried out.

Officers appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.
